Furadouro.

Furadouro is a sand-bottom beach break shaped by a pair of jetties that jut into the Atlantic roughly 40km south of Porto. The groynes do the heavy lifting here: they anchor sandbars that would otherwise migrate freely up and down the coast, producing a dependable right that peels off the jetty tip and runs into a calmer channel, and a shorter, punchier left breaking in the opposite direction. At low to mid tide on solid NW swell the peak steepens noticeably and delivers medium-speed walls in the 50-100m range - long enough to link turns, short enough to stay interesting. The wave does not barrel consistently but the steep takeoff rewards committed surfing. SW-to-NW swells are the target window, and an easterly wind offshore keeps the face clean. Consistency is high for this stretch of coastline, making it a reliable option when nearby beach breaks are washed out. Crowds are rare by Portuguese standards - this is not a destination beach in the way that Espinho is, and the atmosphere in the water reflects that. A surf school operates here, which can bring novice surfers into the lineup on smaller days; the inside whitewater over sand gives genuine beginners a safe learning zone while intermediate surfers work the main peak.
