Praia do Castelo is an exposed, sand-bottom beach break on Portugal’s Costa da Caparica. A-frame peaks produce both lefts and rights, with rights generally more consistent. Channels and shifting sandbars can create fast, hollow sections, with rides commonly reaching 50-150 metres. West swells and easterly winds provide the most favorable setup, while autumn and winter offer the cleanest consistency. The spot suits intermediate surfers in its more demanding conditions, although surf schools use selected conditions for beginner lessons.
