Praia do Canal is a remote, west-facing beach break in Aljezur, Algarve, immediately south of Arrifana. Open west swells break over shifting sandbars into punchy lefts and rights, while the beach itself is predominantly rounded pebbles near an ephemeral stream mouth. Clean west groundswell with east or south winds and a mid tide produces the best conditions. Surf is generally suited to intermediate and advanced surfers because the banks shift and require timing and reading. October through April is the productive season, with the strongest surf typically from December through March.
