Amoreira.

Amoreira is a rivermouth beach break where the Seixe River meets the Atlantic on the Alentejo-Algarve border. The shifting sandbars built by the estuary produce a peak that leans heavily toward rights at lower tides, though lefts appear when the sand stacks differently. Waves run short - typically under 50m - but can be fast and hollow when conditions align, powered by the swell-focusing effect of the river channel. The spot is wide open to southwesterly swells and picks up swell readily, yet this exposure also makes it genuinely fickle: the same currents that shape the bars can destroy the wave entirely when overhead swells push through, turning the lineup into a closeout washing machine. The break sits within the Vicentine Coast Natural Park and retains a quiet character outside summer, when lighter crowds share a stretch with far more personality than the neighbouring beachbreaks. Free parking is available and the beach is a short walk from the car park. Entry is straightforward at low to rising tide; avoid paddling through the main river outflow, particularly after rain when estuary pollution is highest. The upper end of the swell range is best left to confident intermediates - the currents become relentless and the wave offers little margin.
