Plage de l'Ocean sits within the long stretch of Anglet beachbreak, separated from its more famous neighbours by limited road access at the end of Avenue de l'Ocean, which threads through the golf course. With no jetties to stabilise the seafloor, the sandbars here are genuinely transient - they form, shift and dissolve with each swell cycle. When the baines establish themselves, the setup can produce well-shaped, hollow lefts and rights that punch well above the usual beachbreak average. Without a defined baine, the waves default to workable shoulders that give developing surfers room to practise without the intensity of nearby spots. The beach geometry mirrors Cavaliers behaviour at high water, pushing the break steeper and more powerful than first appearances suggest. Low to mid tide is the window: the sandbars reveal more shape and the rips, while still present, are easier to read. The spot responds best to W through N swells, and offshore easterlies clean it up sharply. Despite sitting within a busy coastal corridor, the walk and restricted parking keep numbers lower than comparable Anglet peaks, making it a useful alternative during summer pressure.
