Les Corsaires is one of several distinct sandbar peaks strung along the Anglet jetty system between Biarritz and the Adour estuary. The southern end of this stretch typically assembles a defined peak where rips channel either side of the bar, giving clean entry and exit lines for those who know where to look. As the tide pushes through, one peak gives way to the next - the bank is workable at all stages, holding shape well into high tide as long as swell sits above 1m. The wave breaks with a fast, steep face capable of producing proper hollow sections on better days, with the depth profile showing both well-covered sections and flat spots depending on sand distribution. It fires best on W to NW groundswell with an easterly wind cleaning things up. This is a high-consistency stretch - waves arrive reliably through autumn and winter, making it a go-to when the Atlantic delivers. The Anglet beaches sit just north of Biarritz's more exposed breaks and benefit from some shelter in larger swells. Access is via two large car parks that drain quickly in summer. The flotilla is a real factor: surf schools operate here regularly and the swimming flags compress the available surf zone. Localism runs at a meaningful level - the limited space and consistent crowds mean the lineup has a pecking order. Nearby Sables d'Or and Marinella offer variations on the same theme if this peak is saturated.
