Surf spot guide · Coral Coast, Fiji
A long, hollow right over reef on Fiji's Coral Coast, reached by boat, that starts with an angled roll-in, gives you shoulders to cut back on through the middle, then turns sucky over the shallow inside reef.
Serua Rights is a right-hand reef break on the Coral Coast of Fiji, and getting out there means taking a boat. Rides can stretch anywhere from 200 to 500 metres, and on medium days it ranks among the longest rights you will find in Fiji. The wave starts breaking out on the outer reef and peels along toward deeper water. Things begin with a gentle, angled roll-in that leads into a run of shoulders through the middle, perfect for cutbacks. It can feel odd the first few times, because you have to keep carving back deep into the whitewater while a lump builds ahead of you and races in from the other direction. Near the shallow inside reef, a fresh peak reforms and comes at you from further down the line, setting up a hollow backdoor section. Most of those reforms give you a real shot at pulling into a backdoor barrel. Swell from the south round to the southwest gets it working, with a southwest swell being the pick. Expect it to handle waves from roughly 0.9 up to 2.4 metres. Tide makes little difference here, but the wind usually decides the session, and a northwesterly is the one you want. Fiji has surf all year, with bigger swells turning up more reliably from April to October. The way in is through Waidroka Bay Resort, roughly two hours from Nadi along the Coral Coast. The resort holds the surfing rights by agreement with the nearby village. Over on the other side of the pass sits 420's, a left that can match the rights with long, equally fun rides.
Keep cutting back into the foam, because the barrel is still coming.

Stay with the wave even when it seems to fade into the foam, because the ride is not over yet.
When the inside reform comes at you, set up to backdoor it.
The spot where the boat waits gives a great angle for barrel photos.
Check the wind before heading out, since it matters far more than the tide.
