Surf spot guide · Coral Coast, Fiji
A consistent, fun reef left on Fiji's Coral Coast, breaking in the channel into Waidroka resort, mellow enough for longboarders when small and hollow once the swell fills in.
This left peels over reef in the channel leading into Waidroka resort on Fiji's Coral Coast. Because the peak forms out in deeper water, it suits longboarders and surfers who are still improving. Expect rides of roughly 50 to 100 metres. Day to day, you can count on it for a reliable and playful session. Once the swell has some size, the drop steepens and throws you into a hollow bowl. After that section the wave softens onto the shoulder and fades into the deep water of the channel. It holds anything from about 0.6 m up to around 3 m. Swells anywhere from southeast round to southwest will reach it, and a straight south swell is the pick. Northeast winds are ideal, while a light easterly will not spoil things. Fiji sees surf all year, though the larger swells arrive from April through October.
