South-facing reef peak beside Las Galletas harbour, mellow at most sizes but capable of punchy walls overhead on a solid S swell.
Las Galletas is a south-facing a-frame reef peak tucked against the fishing harbour wall on the lower coast of Tenerife, active mainly through spring and summer when SE to SW groundswells push into the bay. At smaller sizes the wave is well-covered, slopey and forgiving, with medium-paced walls that crumble open across the uneven reef and offer space for longboarders and bodyboarders to thread cutback sections. When the swell pushes overhead and the tide drops, the left side of the peak steepens noticeably, throwing up some steep sections before the rocks emerge on the inside. The right side is shorter and softer, clipped by the harbour structure. An NE offshores trades wind is the go-to wind condition, keeping the faces clean during the trade-wind season. Waves run from 0.6m to around 2.5m before conditions become heavy enough for the inside rock hazard to matter. The spot works across all tides but the best left-side quality comes at low tide on a solid S swell. Parking is free via carpark and roadside.
