Surf spot guide Β· Ericeira, Portugal
Punchy reef A-frame with a principal right beside Matadouroβs offshore rock.
Matadouroβs main peak is a reef A-frame breaking beside the left side of a large offshore rock. The principal wave runs right, with a slower left available from the same peak. Its reef-and-rock bottom produces progressive, sometimes fast waves with rides commonly reaching 50-100 metres. The wave is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers, becoming more powerful and demanding as northwest to west swell increases. It is generally most manageable around mid to high water, while low tide exposes shallow reef and rocks.

January-December
The town location and surf schools make the main peak regularly busy, especially in summer. Locals and visitors share the lineup.
