Surf spot guide · Sumbawa, Indonesia
Powerstation is a powerful, consistent barreling beach break on Sumbawa's west coast at Kertasari that works best on low tide for shortboarders and tube riders.
Powerstation offers long, fast lefts breaking over a sharp reef, drawing experienced surfers seeking power and consistency. Unique in the area, it is the only spot that works well on low tide, making it a reliable alternative when other breaks are flat. The beach break is located across from a power plant and is known for its barreling waves, ideal for shortboarders and tube riders. The spot works best with a solid south or southwest swell and light offshore winds from the northeast. Waves can get heavy and hollow, especially during the peak season, and the shallow reef makes wipeouts risky. The lineup is usually less crowded than nearby spots, fostering a friendly but respectful vibe. Access is straightforward with a short walk from the main road. Local warungs and basic facilities are nearby, but bring essentials.

This is the one break in the area that works at low tide, so it is the call when the rest of the bay is waiting for the tide to come over 1.5 metres.
It picks up more swell than the other breaks around Kertasari, so it is worth checking when everywhere else is too small.
The break sits directly across from the PLTU Sumbawa Barat coal power station, which is the landmark to navigate to.
