Super Suck in West Sumbawa is renowned for its fast, mechanical lefts breaking over a shallow reef in the bay of Maluk. The wave offers long rides with powerful, hollow barrels that can run up to 150 meters, beginning with a technical drop and racing over a shallow reef shelf before easing off into deeper water. It works best during the dry season on consistent southwest swells and mid to high tide, providing some of the best barrels in Indonesia for advanced surfers. The reef is sharp and shallow, making the takeoff critical and demanding experience and confidence. Access is typically via a paddle out from the beach through a keyhole channel that offers safer passage over the reef, with nearby surf camps and homestays accommodating visitors. Crowds can be an issue during peak swell, but the wave’s intensity limits the lineup mostly to experts.
