Mangrove offers a reliable left-hand reef break that produces fast, punchy waves suited to experienced surfers. Located in the same bay as Limestone, it features steep but slightly gentler waves compared to its neighbor. The spot is suitable for both shortboards and longboards, with the best conditions occurring on swells average to big swells. A channel at the end of the wave facilitates an easier paddle back out, although the paddle out remains long, with entry from the bay edge. The spot is best during the dry season when consistent swells and offshore winds align. Its shallow reef creates powerful sections, sometimes hollow at lower tides, making for challenging but rewarding rides. Access is typically by boat, and the secluded location means fewer crowds than more famous Sumbawa spots. Watch for sharp coral and sea urchins, especially at low tide. The natural setting is pristine, surrounded by mangroves and crystal-clear water!
