Krui Left.

Krui Left is a high-quality, fast, hollow left-hand reef break located inside the southern point of Krui Bay on the southern coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. Best on moderate to large southwest swells with east to southeast winds, the wave offers consistent, vertical drops and quick barrels breaking over a shallow coral reef. It suits intermediate to advanced surfers due to its powerful waves and shallow reef, though all levels can surf here with caution. The wave can handle a range of tides, becoming more mellow at high tide and faster and more hollow at low tide. Wave lengths range from 50 to 150 meters, allowing a couple of turns on the tapered shoulders as it reaches deeper water. Access is easy with a straightforward paddle out from the beach near fishermen’s boats. Hazards include the shallow reef and sea urchins, especially at low tide. The spot can get crowded during larger swells, so surfers are advised to respect local etiquette. Nearby Krui Bowl, 250 meters south, offers a similar shallow, fast left for those avoiding crowds. Krui Left is considered a regional classic and is often compared to Bingin in Bali for its quality barrels.
