Surf spot guide · Sumatra, Indonesia
Jimmies Right features heavy, barreling right-hand waves breaking over a shallow reef in a remote area of Krui.
High Waves
Large waves up to 2.7m expected at Jimmies Right. Peak conditions around 6:00 AM.
Exercise extreme caution when entering the water. Strong currents and large waves present. Warning valid until 9:00 PM.
Jimmies Right, the northernmost break from Krui, offers a long left that performs best on W or S swells, producing clean walls and occasional hollow sections. The right is a powerful, steeper, and faster right-hand reef break known for some of the biggest barrels in the Krui region, requiring full commitment on takeoff. It features a hollow takeoff followed by a speedy, walled-out section leading into a hollow barrel, but exits are tricky and the wave is less consistent. The end section can become dangerously shallow and dry at low tide, so caution is needed. Access is now easier via a newly constructed road from Krui town, with parking available near the ocean. Surfers must paddle around the reef through the southern channel to enter and exit safely. Intermediates can enjoy the left on smaller swells, while the right is suited only for advanced surfers, especially given the spot’s remote location and distance from help.
Hollow takeoff into walled speed, then a barrel that demands full commitment.
