Biscarrosse-Plage is a well-rounded Atlantic beach break sitting on the Landes coast, where exposed sandbars shift constantly with the season and produce a wide range of wave types depending on tide and swell. At high tide the beach tends toward punchy shorebreak, while dropping water reveals outer bars capable of producing fast, hollow sections - the beach has a noted tendency to favour rights as the sand migrates on its north-south axis. The break fires best on NW swells, with SW to NW the usable window, and an easterly wind keeps faces clean. The wave length runs 50-100m on average, working across the full tidal range. Size typically sits in the 0.3-2.4m range but can push well overhead on solid groundswells. The town is a major summer resort, which translates directly to the lineup - access points become focal points for crowds, with the northern access leading directly to the Vivier campsite and funnelling large numbers of surfers onto the same banks. A recurring pollution issue drifts down from the La Salie treatment infrastructure to the north, worth monitoring after storms or prolonged onshore periods. A military restricted zone running south toward Mimizan provides a natural crowd dispersal mechanism for those willing to hike, though the boundary is strictly enforced.
