Le Kérou.

Le Kérou sits on the Atlantic coast of southern Brittany at the point where the Laïta river divides Finistère from Morbihan, near the village of Clohars-Carnoët in the Le Pouldu area. The break is a sandy beachbreak that produces peaks on both sides, but its standout feature is a fast, hollow left that sucks up quickly and barrels through in the 0-50m wave length range. The left draws hard on SW to W swells and can handle overhead-plus surf before shutting down. Steep, fast-moving walls make it a favourite among local bodyboarders who know how to read its quick sections. The right is workable but less defined. The wave sits over a flat-to-well-covered sandy bottom, with some submerged objects present, and performs across all tides, though the incoming tide sharpens the shape and adds punch. Swell windows are moderately selective - consistency is average, and flat spells between good swells are common. A free car park sits close to the beach, making access straightforward. The crowd is present often enough to require awareness, particularly on the better days when the left is firing. The river mouth nearby generates rip currents that run harder on the ebb, and surfers should identify safe exit points before paddling out. Plage du Loch, 4km to the east at Guidel, offers a more consistent alternative when conditions here are marginal.
