Plage du Loch is an a-frame beach break sitting over a mix of uneven reef and shifting sandbars along Guidel's coastline in southern Brittany. The wave is not particularly hollow — depth readings show a well-covered bottom with flat spots — but it produces steep, slopey walls that well up nicely, giving surfers plenty of room to work on rail-to-rail surfing rather than barrel hunting. Multiple sandbar configurations spread the crowd across different peaks, which helps on busy days. Runs best from low through mid tide on solid SW to W swells in the 0.3-1.8m range, with a clean NE wind holding the face open. It shares the Guidel stretch with nearby breaks that cater to different conditions: Fort Bloqué offers mellower waves suitable for beginners and longboarders, while Les Moules and Maeva are high-tide reef options when the tide pushes too far for Loch to work properly. As the most consistent and accessible break in the immediate area, it draws a steady crowd — expect company on any decent swell. Rocky patches are scattered across all of Guidel's beaches, so awareness in the water matters, particularly near the inside section. Surf schools operate here, so beginners sharing the lineup are common on weekends and summer mornings.
