The wave is bowly and thick, with a steep face that demands commitment from the first stroke - medium-speed walls give way to punchy sections over a shallow, uneven reef riddled with boils. Rides run 50-100m before the current starts to dictate your line. Mondo describes an A-frame potential, but the dominant energy and primary appeal is the right, which peels with real authority in the 1.2m-3.7m range. This is not a spot that flatters - it fires rarely, needs a solid W swell to reach its potential, and easterly winds are essential to keep the face clean. The headland setting means confused currents are a constant companion even on smaller days, and the surrounding waters attract seals and dolphins alongside the wave energy. Getting in requires descending a steep, slippery cliff path - there is no easy beach entry, no channel to paddle through calmly, and the swirling water at the base makes timing critical. A car park sits above the cliffs, but the tourist traffic it brings stays well clear of the water. Crowds in the lineup are sparse by nature: the access alone filters out the uncommitted, and the wave's character does the rest.
