Pointe de Dinan.

Pointe de Dinan is a right-hand reef break running along the headland of the same name on Brittany's Crozon Peninsula. The wave peels over an uneven reef bottom, drawing power from wrapping NW swells to produce steep, bowly walls that can sustain rides of 200-500m when conditions align. It's a medium-speed wave with a slopey character and consistent bowliness - not a drainer, but assertive enough to reward committed surfing. The natural geometry of the point offers shelter from northerly winds, which keeps the surface clean when much of the exposed Atlantic coastline nearby is blown out. Optimal size is in the 1-3m range, with the spot capable of holding larger swells. At low tide the reef becomes a hazard-laden obstacle course: boils, dry rocks and exposed sections demand attentive line selection from takeoff through to the inside. The lefts in the adjacent bay offer a contrasting option, breaking hollow over a sand-rock mix on the incoming tide. Parking is free and straightforward at the headland. Weekend crowds are a consistent reality given the spot's quality and accessibility from the Crozon towns - it draws a regular crew who know each other well, and visitors should read the lineup before paddling out. La Palue and Kerloch, both within 3km, offer beachbreak alternatives when this spot is too crowded or the swell direction doesn't suit.
