Porsmilin.

Porsmilin is a left-hand reefbreak sitting inside l'Anse de Bertheaume on the western tip of Brittany's Crozon peninsula. The wave breaks over an uneven reef-and-sand bottom, producing fast, steep walls with hollow sections shaped by the shallow reef. Boils and wedging push energy through the line-up, giving the wave a punchy, committed character rather than a drawn-out ride - wave lengths rarely exceed 50 metres. The bay's orientation gives it better protection from westerly winds than the more exposed Petit Minou, meaning it can hold offshore conditions when neighbouring spots are blown out. It works best on solid SW to W swells from mid-tide upward, with high tide extending the rideable sections along the inside. Access is straightforward - free car parking sits close to both Porsmilin and the adjacent Trez-Hir peaks, which unfortunately makes it one of the most accessible spots in the area. That ease of access directly feeds the crowd problem: when any SW or W swell pushes into the bay above 1m, the take-off zone becomes severely congested. The peak is narrow, leaving little room for error or positioning games. Surfers willing to time an early session mid-week stand the best chance of finding breathing room. Rips run through the bay and patches of exposed reef require awareness, particularly on the bigger swells that draw the largest crowds. Tregana's shorebreak nearby offers a slightly less pressed alternative when Porsmilin is at capacity.
