Le Petit Minou.

Le Petit Minou is a hollow beachbreak sitting over a mixed bottom of uneven reef and sand on the western tip of the Presqu'ile de Crozon, just outside Brest. The wave produces classic A-frame peaks with steep, pitching sections and curvy walls that reward sharp turns and well-timed snaps. The southern end of the break, locally called Les Moules, is rockier and more unpredictable, shifting the character of the wave considerably depending on where you position yourself. The spot responds to any solid swell from S through NW - a broad window that keeps it working through most of the autumn and winter season - and needs a NE wind to go properly offshore. Low to mid tide is the sweet spot; as the water recedes, the reef elements come into play and the waves sharpen up noticeably. Entry is relatively straightforward from the beach below the lighthouse, though the mixed bottom demands awareness on the inside. The spot is home to Kana Beach surfwear, a marker of how embedded surf culture is here. Proximity to Brest is the defining social reality: weekend crowds are extreme, packing a relatively compact peak with surfers of mixed ability. Localism runs strong and unfamiliar faces are noticed. Weekday sessions or early morning arrivals significantly change the experience. Dalbos, roughly 1km north, and the more sheltered Porsmilin offer alternatives when Petit Minou is maxed or impossible to get a wave.
