Dalbosc sits on the northwest tip of Brittany near Brest, breaking over an uneven mix of reef and sand that shapes its character entirely around the tide. At low water, the spot can produce a genuine tubular left and a longer, more workable right — but the margin is narrow, and when swell or angle is off, the whole bank closes out fast. The wave is quick off the takeoff with a bowly, wrapping shape and boily sections that reward surfers who can read ahead; hesitation on the left in particular tends to end badly. Any SW through NW swell pushes into the bay, with SW being the most productive direction, and a NE wind cleans things up. The spot is moderately consistent by Brittany standards, generating rideable surf across much of the year, though truly good conditions are rarer. Nearby workers and students from Brest make it one of the more crowded lunch-break spots along this stretch of coast, so weekday midday sessions can be surprisingly busy for what looks like a low-key reef. Currents run with purpose here, and the mixed bottom means rocks are never far away — particularly on the paddle out at low water. Deolen, a short distance to the west, offers a comparable low-tide alternative when the crowd at Dalbosc becomes unmanageable.
