Georgia, locally known as Georgica, is the East Hampton jetty break sitting just west of Main Beach on Long Island's South Fork. Sand piles up against the rock groynes and shapes punchy peaks, with the cleanest rights forming on the east side of the jetties when banks build through autumn. Faces are steep and run shallow over a sand bottom, with occasional boils and flat sections rather than true barrels, and the wave backs off once swell pushes much past head-high. SW groundswell is the prime ingredient, though the spot also pulls in E and SE windswell through hurricane season. A NW offshore grooms the faces in autumn and winter. Access is straight off the public sand at Georgica Beach, with a paid town lot that fills early and tight summer parking enforcement. Lineup tends to bunch on the better jetty bank, with Main Beach and East Hampton Beach as nearby fall-back options when this peak is too crowded or maxed out.
