Flies.

Flies is the sand beachbreak that wraps around the eastern jetty of Shinnecock Inlet on Long Island's South Shore, covering the run from East Hampton through Southampton down to the inlet itself. The marquee peak is the right that lines up off the jetty, holding a longer wall on solid SW swells while a SE direction stacks the same bank into hollow, wedging takeoffs. The wave runs medium-paced and steep, with shallow flat spots producing barrel sections at size before the inside softens onto the bar. Across the inlet the sandbars only switch on in larger groundswells. The break sits inside a string of exclusive Hamptons towns, and summer parking is gated by resident-only town tags that turn access into the main hurdle for outsiders. Crowds stack on the better days but the long stretch of sand absorbs them, with surfers spreading from the jetty peak down toward Coopers and Ponquogue.
