Atlantic Terrace.

Atlantic Terrace is a mostly sand beachbreak with a sprinkling of submerged boulders, fronting the village of Montauk on the south shore of Long Island near Hither Hills State Park. Peaks shift along the bank and break close to shore, throwing the odd steeper, hollow section over the rocks before high tide flattens everything out. The wave runs medium-paced with a slopey power profile, so rides are short and workable rather than drawn-out. It comes alive on E through SW swells with a NW offshore, and the incoming tide from low to mid is the prime window. Access is straight off the sand in front of town, but parking is the catch: there is no free roadside parking and the town beach permit runs around $150 a year. The lineup pulls a steady mix of Montauk locals and summer visitors staying in the beachfront hotels, so it is rarely empty when there is swell on tap.
