North Bar is a right-hand point-style break tucked on the north side of Montauk Point, where E swells and oversized SE pulses wrap into the corner and reel down a bottom of mixed boulders and sand. The wave runs fast and down-the-line with a steep, performance-oriented face, but sections seldom link and the shape leans more medium-paced and well-covered than barreling. It is offshore on a SW wind, which is why it lights up here when the south-facing Long Island beachbreaks are blown to pieces. The setup is one of Montauk's classic foul-weather options, sitting inside Montauk Point State Park near the lighthouse alongside neighbours like Turtle Cove, Camp Hero and Ditch Plains. Access is from the parking area inside the State Park, with a short walk to the beach. Crowds gather quickly when conditions align, jellyfish show up in summer, and the current along the point pulls hard once the swell builds.

Access is via Montauk Point State Park, where the official car park inside the gate has a fee outside winter weekdays. Parking anywhere else along the road risks tickets or towing. Heated restrooms inside the park are the main on-site facility; no lifeguard, showers, surf school or surf shop at the break.
