Praia da Foz is an exposed left-hand rock-reef break on Sesimbra’s west coast. The wave can run hollow and barrel over shallow flat rocks, with sand also present on the bottom. Rides are typically about 50-150 metres, with workable surf from roughly 3-5 feet through 6 feet and larger, best suited to chest-high to overhead conditions. West swells and east-southeast offshore winds are favored, while low to mid tide produces the hollowest shape and high tide makes it fatter and weaker. It is an advanced-surfers’ wave with strong currents, shallow rocks and sea urchins around the reef.
