Monkeys is a right-hand reef break wrapping into a wide bay at the southern end of the Telo chain on Tanahbala Island. The wave draws on S-SW swell that bends into the bay, producing a deceptively long shoulder over dead coral that crumbles progressively rather than pitching hard. Ride length runs roughly 100-150 m and the wave has distinct sections: an open face on the upper shelf that invites carving, a mid-section shelf with boils, and a shallower inside runner where the reef tightens and the lip gets a little squarer. The fatter, deeper-water channel sets are genuinely manageable for developing surfers, though anyone on those waves needs to pull out before the reef comes up in the final section. Intermediates will find the most out of the cutback potential; better surfers looking for power or barrel time should look a little further south to Outside Monkeys or Coffins. As the house wave for Monkeys Resort, the lineup is accessible by boat transfer from the nearby resort, which takes roughly two minutes.
