Outside Monkeys.

Outside Monkeys is a right-hand reef break sitting south of the main Monkeys cluster on Monkeys Point in the southern Telo Islands. It breaks over a flat dead-coral shelf with a pronounced square shelf edge. On the suitable tide it can run as round barrels along the reef; otherwise it stands up into open faces for turns. The break handles considerably more swell energy than Monkeys itself, which is its main draw for surfers who find the northern peak too soft. Side wash can be a factor in making the peak shift around, but once into it, there are faster, ripable walls that reward those staying close to the pocket. Offshore is NW wind; SW swell is the prime driver. Access is strictly by boat from the Telo Islands charter fleet.
