La Coudoulière is a right-hander breaking over uneven reef on the western side of the Six-Fours peninsula, one of the better-positioned stretches of coast in the French Mediterranean for catching swell. The wave is steep and slopey with a welling quality, running 50-100m at a medium pace over a shallow reef with flat spots between sections. It needs the relatively uncommon combination of a solid SW swell and an easterly or offshore wind to show its best - when those conditions align, it delivers clean, punchy rides that reward intermediate surfers who can read the reef. The peninsula's orientation gives it one of the wider swell windows on this coastline, picking up fetch from S through to W, but Mediterranean swell is inherently infrequent and the spot misses more days than it fires. When wind swings onshore - which is common here given the Mistral's influence - the wave becomes too messy to surf properly, and the lineup fills with kite and windsurfers using the adjacent Brutal Beach zone. Parking is free with both a car park and roadside options nearby, and showers are available. The reef carries submerged objects and the water hosts jellyfish and sea lice seasonally, so a full wetsuit or rashguard is worth considering outside summer.
