Pointe des Trois-Bassins is one of La Réunion’s premier reef breaks, offering reliable surf year-round. It sets in a shallow reef-lagoon environment with reef/rock bottom and some sandy patches. The spot features long, fast rights and lefts breaking over a sharp coral reef. Waves can get powerful, especially with larger southern swells, making it better suited for intermediate to advanced surfers. The shore can be suitable for beginners. The water is crystal clear, but hazards like strong currents and occasional sea urchins are present. Local surfers frequent the lineup, and shark safety protocols are in place. Access is straightforward, with parking nearby and a short paddle-out from the beach.
Long rights that peel over sharp coral, sharp enough to demand respect.
