Le Cimetière is a right-hander over the coral reef at the southern end of Saint-Leu, just off the coast road where it meets the road up to Piton Saint-Leu. Rides are short, under 50 m on a normal day and up to about 150 m when it lines up, and it breaks through the tide. It starts working with about 1 to 1.5 m of surf and is at its best on small to medium swells: a big swell maxes it out. The reef is sharp and strong rips run along it, so it suits surfers who are at ease on reef. It rarely gets crowded, and locals use it when the main spots are busy. Because of the shark risk, surfing within 300 m of the shore is banned across most of Réunion. Le Cimetière is one of Saint-Leu's supervised surf zones: you can surf it while the supervision is running, and not outside it. A shark was reported on the spot in March 2023.
