Las Tunas.

Las Tunas is a remote fishing village on El Salvador's eastern Pacific coast, set in the Oriente Salvaje stretch of La Unión department past El Cuco and toward the Gulf of Fonseca. The wave is a low-key beachbreak: mostly rocky sections strung along the shoreline with a rivermouth at the village that, when the banks cooperate, throws up the cleanest peaks on offer. Expect mellow, crumbly walls best suited to beginners and loggers rather than performance surfers, with a small window for cutbacks on the better days. The setup rides a wide SE through SW swell window and holds across all tides, with a north-easterly offshore cleaning it up. Access is easy, free roadside parking sits right behind the floundering beachfront ranchos, and the next bay holds Playa Torola with a similar rivermouth setup worth checking. Lineup is almost always empty thanks to the distance from Surf City and the unreliable banks, but rips near the rivermouth can pulse hard and run-off pollution spikes after rain.
