Praia Brava Cabo Frio.

Praia Brava sits between Ponta do Pero and Morro do Farolete, a roughly 400 meter beach boxed in by 20 meter escarpments, facing the open Atlantic with Ilha dos Papagaios just offshore. Cabo Frio's tourism secretariat lists it among the city's four surf points: it takes east and southeast swells with a northeast wind, prefers low or high tide over the shifting mid stages, and holds its best shape around the one meter mark. A rock outcrop splits the sand into two sectors. The left corner throws big triangular peaks and belongs to the bodyboarders, who contest championships here; the right side carries the beach's older naturist association, now largely faded. The name is literal: the water is clear but consistently agitated, strong currents run through the rocky sectors, and there is no road to the sand. Access is on foot only, 15 to 20 minutes on a packed dirt trail from parking near Praia do Pero and Ilha do Japones, or about 1.5 kilometers from Praia das Conchas, and the final stretch descends a stone path. Nothing waits at the end: no lifeguard, no kiosks, no shade.

East swell stands up into big triangular peaks between two rock headlands, twenty minutes on foot from the nearest road.
