Arugam Bay is a world-renowned right-hand point break located on Sri Lanka's east coast. It is famous for its long, peeling waves that can offer rides up to 400 meters on good days. The spot works best during the dry season, from April to October, when south swells and offshore winds prevail. Crowds can be significant during peak season, especially in July and August, but the atmosphere remains friendly and welcoming. The reef and sand bottom suits intermediate and advanced surfers, and it is not a beginner wave. Local surf culture is vibrant, with plenty of surf schools, cafes, and accommodations nearby.
