Lighthouse.

Lighthouse is a right-hand point that breaks beside the ruins of an old light at Sri Lanka's easternmost tip. Two or three peaks flank the ruin, all rights, each starting off a rocky outcrop before running along sandbars that shift through the season. The main peak holds rides of around 100 metres onto an open face, and it is a relatively mellow wave that rewards a longboard or a fish more than a shortboard. It steepens and quickens as the season runs and the sandbanks bulk up, so August is a faster wave than June. The trade here is consistency for solitude: the point needs a real southerly swell and built-up sand before it works at all, and it sits far enough north of Arugam Bay that most surfers never make the trip. Five or six people on the peak is normal and empty sessions happen. No one owns this lineup, so the vibe stays friendly. Dawn is glassy and offshore before the sea breeze arrives late morning.
