Port Robinson.

A boulder-bottom right-hand point break tucked into a rocky bay on the North Canterbury coast south of Gore Bay. The wave wraps into the bay on SE to S swells and can produce extended 200-500m rides with hollow barrel sections interspersed with open wall. The takeoff is critical and vertical, and the wave runs fast along the boulder-strewn point with boils and surge adding an unpredictable element. Needs a solid swell to activate, making sessions here genuinely rare occurrences. High tide and SW winds are the combination to watch for. Access requires a 10-minute walk down a farm track from the end of Port Robinson Road above the bay. The lineup is almost always empty - the combination of inconsistency, remote access, and heavy conditions means only experienced surfers familiar with the area tend to make the trek. Sharks, strong currents, and submerged boulders are real hazards. Nearby Gore Bay offers a more accessible alternative when conditions are smaller.
