Consistent, powerful righthander south of Cap Rhir lighthouse named after a wrecked ship boiler on the rocks.
Boilers sits just south of the Cap Rhir lighthouse, where a rusted ship boiler washed up on the reef gave the spot its name. The wave is a powerful right that peels for 200 to 500 metres over an uneven reef shelf. Trade winds funnel down off the surrounding hills and stand the lip up vertically, producing barrel sections, speed walls, and performance faces. The shape stays steep and bowly through most tides, with shallow boils on the inside warning of the rock contour underneath. On a full high tide it breaks close to the low cliff, tightening the playing field. One of the headline waves of the Taghazout zone, Boilers picks up almost every swell that reaches Morocco and is reliably bigger than Taghazout itself on a NW pulse. Entry is through a keyhole behind a large rock to the north, picking a path around the urchin-covered shelf. Accommodation has grown around the lighthouse, so the lineup tends to be busy whenever the swell lines up.
