Pinnacles is a right-hander breaking over dead coral reef on the northern edge of the Telo Islands. The wave opens on a shifty outside peak before peeling into two distinct zones: wider, slopier shoulders on the outside that reward carving and wrapping turns, and tighter, faster walls on the inside reef section where the wave picks up more wall and speed. The depth profile - shallow with well-covered sections and flat spots - produces a medium-paced, crumbly-to-steep face rather than a barrel, making it a carvers' wave in the mould of Burger World in the Mentawais. Larger swells make the outside peak confused and shift the peak unpredictably. The rocky headland is a documented hazard. Access is a paddle from Pinnacles Lodge directly in front of the break. The wider area draws small numbers, with estimates of 0-15 surfers on any given day, and no localism has been reported. Consistent from April through October.
