Mishos on Sibaranu Island is a consistently surfable left-hand reef break. The left-hand reef sets up with a steep but forgiving entry that immediately connects to a long, wrapping outside wall, bowing back into the reef where the shoulder stays slashable and the odd pocket offers tube time. At its best on a pure S swell doing a full refraction arc around the island, it runs 100-200m and holds shape from waist-high through to head-and-a-half-high, after which the wall begins to lose structure. The inside shallows on the drop in tide. East wind raises chatter on the face; the preferred wind is southerly. A pushing tide is the practical preference, as incoming water counteracts the strong channel rip that accelerates through the passage on the outgoing cycle. Access is direct for those staying at the front-facing accommodation on Sibaranu: a paddle from the beach is all that is needed. The crowd can reach 15 surfers when charter boats arrive alongside homestay guests.
