Lakey Peak, located on the southeast coast of Sumbawa, is renowned for its mechanical A-frame waves breaking over shallow reef. The spot offers both a sought-after left and a world-class right from the same peak. The left is more consistent, providing long, rippable rides with occasional barrels, while the right features a barreling section that is best surfed at higher tides. Wave quality is best during the dry season when consistent swells and offshore winds prevail. Access to the lineup requires a paddle around the reef. Crowds can be significant, especially during peak months and competitions, and the sharp, shallow reef beneath demands respect. Local surf infrastructure is well-developed, with accommodations and surf services nearby, as well as easy access from Bima airport. The lineup can be competitive, so etiquette and awareness are essential.

Bustling competitive hotspot
The paddle out is only about 450 metres, or take the zodiac for a couple of dollars return.
The left works right through the tide, but the right needs water over the reef and is best at higher tides.
Surf early. The wind picks up late morning, so dawn and late afternoon are the clean windows.
The optimum size is head high plus; it holds much bigger, but that is when it is at its best.
When the peak is too crowded, Cobblestones is a 45 minute walk or a short zodiac ride to the south.
