Do'o Surf Spot Guide — Rote, Indonesia

Do’o is a secluded, long, and powerful right-hand reef break located about 10 kilometers from Nemberala on Rote Island, Indonesia. It faces almost north and features hollow, fast, and steep waves breaking over a sharp, shallow coral reef, requiring higher tides to safely cover the reef. The take-offs are quick and lead into bowly, powerful sections, making it suitable only for advanced surfers. The wave is highly sensitive to swell and wind conditions, performing best with southern to southwestern swells and light or offshore winds, often glassy before or after the main surf season. Access is exclusively by boat, and the isolated location demands surfers be well-prepared and cautious of hazards such as strong currents, the sharp reef, and occasional marine life. Lower tides create sucky zones, adding to the challenge of this serious surf spot.
