Surf spot guide · North Shore Oahu, United States
User-friendly righthand reef on the North Shore with long walls and high consistency.
Chun's Reef is one of the most approachable and consistent breaks on the North Shore. It features multiple righthand sections—outside, middle, and inside bowl—that offer rolling entries, long workable walls and occasional tube sections when the swell is lined up. A less reliable left sometimes breaks from the middle peak, though the paddle back can be difficult. The wave handles a wide range of swell sizes and is especially inviting for beginners progressing toward intermediate surfing. Chun's is almost always crowded, with surf schools, longboarders and families sharing the lineup, plus a long paddle using the rip to the left. Entry and exit across the reef require care.
