Faro de Calaburra sits on the Costa del Sol between Fuengirola and Marbella, tucked below the lighthouse of the same name along the coastal road. The break fires over a mixed bottom of boulders and sand, producing a-frame peaks with a hollow, vertical character that rewards surfers who can commit early on the takeoff. Swell windows are limited on this sheltered Mediterranean stretch, but east-to-southeast groundswells wrap around the coast and deliver genuine power here. Wave faces run slopey with occasional barrel sections and cut-back sections as the peak walls up, and the medium speed of the ride gives intermediates room to work the face. On a solid E swell the break can hold up to around 1.8 metres, offering a range of sections from shoulder-high punchy peaks to longer walls extending up to 500 metres along the bank. The boulder substrate makes the spot shallower than a pure sand beach, so reading the water before entry matters.
