Patos.

Patos is an uneven reef break sitting just south of the city of Vigo, producing left and right a-frame peaks with a reputation for fast, punchy barrels on its best days. The wave needs a solid NW swell of at least 1 to 1.5 metres to get going, and really comes into its own at 2 metres and above when the sets wrap into the reef and throw up short, critical barrel sections on both flanks. Rides run between 50 and 100 metres on a good day, but the takeoff window is tight and unforgiving: the reef is shallow in places, boils appear on the bigger sets, and the critical drop rewards surfers who commit early and fast. Mid to high tide smooths the hazards and gives the wave its best shape; low tide exposes the reef and makes the paddle uncomfortable. A southerly wind is the preferred offshore, with a SW wind also workable according to the source data. Consistency is low, which concentrates the crowd on the rare days it delivers - Vigo's large surf population fills the lineup quickly and localism is a real factor.
