La Lanzada is a broad, curving sand-bottom beachbreak on the Rias Baixas coast of Galicia, stretching long enough to absorb crowds across multiple shifting peaks. The beach faces southwest and picks up SW through NW swells efficiently, with its arcing shoreline providing a measure of protection from NW winds that hammer much of the Galician coast. Waves break as a-frames with a vertical takeoff, running fast over well-covered sand at wave lengths of 50 to 100 metres. Low to mid tide is the optimal window; high tide tends to back off and lose shape. Swell size of roughly 1 to 2.5 metres is the usable range, with bigger pulses pushing beyond the beach break's structure. A left reef at the southern end of the beach adds another option but carries a noticeably territorial atmosphere, particularly on good days. The surrounding area is well served by facilities: free parking is plentiful, showers and restrooms are on the beach, and camping is available nearby. The town of Sanxenxo is a short drive and brings heavy summer traffic.
