Lago do Linho is a long left with real power, peeling south down the bouldery eastern edge of Faja da Caldeira do Santo Cristo, among the most striking lava platforms in the Azores. The wave needs a solid NW swell to trigger, but once it fires it offers barrel sections on the inside, performance walls through the mid-section, and a steep vertical takeoff at the peak - the upper portion is sharper and more committed, while the shoulder outside gives more room for intermediates to breathe. The inside section shelves over a large exposed rock that only opens up above double-overhead, and at smaller sizes the lower sections become a boulder slalom rather than a clean ride. Unusually for the faja cluster, it tolerates more west in the wind than neighbours, making WSW conditions workable when everywhere else closes out. Getting here requires parking at Faja dos Cubres and committing to a 50-minute walk along the coast or negotiating a quad-bike ride, which filters all but the dedicated.

The lineup is rarely crowded thanks to the demanding 50-minute hike from the nearest car park. On peak swell days in autumn, expect a small core of experienced local and travelling surfers - still a low headcount by any standard.

Park at Faja dos Cubres car park. Walk 50 minutes along the coastal path to reach the break, or arrange a quad-bike transfer with a local operator (known contact: Carlos). Entry and exit over the boulder shelf is serious at size - getting in and out is a mission when the swell is above 1.5m.
