The longest left in the Alpes-Maritimes, a punchy reef break near Cap d'Antibes that fires on S-W swells.
La Tour takes its name from a broken stone tower still standing in the water off Cap d'Antibes - a navigational landmark that doubles as the marker for arguably the longest left in the Alpes-Maritimes department. The wave peels over an uneven reef bottom, producing a medium-paced, steep-faced left with a punchy character driven by the reef's boil sections and shallow water shelf beneath. At its best on S to SW swells in the 0.6-1.2m range, it runs for 100-200m and offers genuine quality for an otherwise wave-starved stretch of French Riviera coast. The spot is technically rideable from 0.3m, though the shallow reef at that size makes wipeouts punishing - this is a wave that rewards commitment over caution. When E winds howl, Marina Baie des Anges to the north provides shelter and is a viable alternative session. The Mediterranean's fickle swell window means La Tour fires rarely, but when a proper S swell arrives the word travels fast along the Côte d'Azur and the lineup fills quickly. Intermediate surfers form the bulk of the crowd on good days. Rock or beach entry will depend on conditions and tide.
