When it does break, the peak throws up mostly lefts — thick, bowly and hollow — with a punchy, fast character that can hit overhead and heavier quickly. The right-hander is the one to be wary of: it tracks directly toward dry reef sitting beneath sheer cliffs, making a misread or a bad wipeout a genuinely serious situation. Wave lengths run 100-200m, giving riders room to work, but the shallow, irregular bottom demands full commitment from first takeoff. This is a wave that fires only a handful of times a season, so it carries no historical competition pedigree — its reputation is built purely on quality, earned through scarcity. Entry requires careful navigation around the reef; there is no forgiving channel, so timing and route selection matter. Because the window is so rare, when the swell arrives the local crew is out in force, and the territorial atmosphere reflects how protective the community is of one of the region's few genuine reef setups. On smaller days, the nearby break at Beaulieu is worth checking instead.
